This image shows the open star cluster Bochum 14, captured by the NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory. Open clusters like this are made up of stars that formed together from the same cloud of gas and dust, remaining loosely bound as they drift through the Milky Way.
Observations like this help astronomers study how stars are born, evolve, and spread out over time. With its powerful wide-field view, the Rubin Observatory is set to reveal countless scenes like this across the southern sky.
