Beautiful Spiral NGC 3621 by ESO's MPG/ESO 2.2-meter telescope

This picture of the spiral galaxy NGC 3621 was taken using the Wide Field Imager (WFI) at ESO's La Silla Observatory in Chile. NGC 3621 is about 22 million light-years away in the constellation of Hydra (The Sea Snake). It is comparatively bright and can be well seen in moderate-sized telescopes. The data from the Wide Field Imager on the MPG/ESO 2.2-meter telescope at ESO's La Silla Observatory in Chile used to make this image were selected from the ESO archive by Joe DePasquale as part of the Hidden Treasures competition.
